- Book Launch and Meet the Author
The Friends of the Library Launceston Inc invites you to meet author and illustrator Joanna Stronach and join them as Fiona Hoskin launches Streaky to the rescue and follow the latest adventure of this cheeky but loveable penguin.
- Launceston Living Library
Living Libraries are community programs that promote respect for human rights and human dignity and raise awareness of and enable constructive dialogue about prejudices that frequently lead to discrimination against individuals or groups of people.
Readers join the Living Library and can then borrow a Living Library Book for half an hour's conversation in a friendly, secure environment.

(Coffee mornings held the second Wednesday of each month)
Guest speaker: Dr Nic Haygarth, local historian and published author, on Alienation and disrepute: surveying the verges of the 1837 Hughes map of northern Tasmania. Hear how a convict helped impose social order on a penal colony; locate early land grants; and learn how to download a copy of this rare map.
Wednesday 11th November 2009, 10.15am for 10.30am start. Phil Leonard Room.
Admission: gold coin donation to cover cost of refreshments. All welcome.
