Glenorchy Library + Online Access Centre

The Glenorchy Library + Online Access Centre provides a range of courses to introduce people to computers and the Internet:

• Basic Computing
  Suit beginners and those interested in gaining more basic information on the variety of uses that a computer has.
  3 x 2-hour sessions
  $5.00 per session

• Opening and using email
  Suit beginners. Learn to communicate with friends and family through email. Includes opening an email account, sending and receiving emails, adding attachments, and adding friends to your contact lists.
  3 x 2-hour sessions
  $5.00 per session

• Introduction to the Internet
  Suit beginners or those with minimal experience. Learn "What is the Internet?", getting connected, how to search, and internet security.
  3 x 2-hour sessions
  $5.00 per session

• Various single courses (subject to demand)
  These sessions are conducted in small groups and revolve around answering specific questions that people may have regarding the use of different computer applications, including desktop publishing, digital photographs, scanning, and resume writing.

• Genealogy Training
  The Glenorchy LINC has a volunteer who provides training and assistance to people doing genealogy research on the first Wednesday of each month from February 2010 to December 2010. We are now taking bookings for February 2010. Both first-timers and experienced researchers welcome.
  First Wednesday of each month (February to December 2010)
  Three 30-minute sessions: 10.00am, 10.30am, 11.00am

Huonville Library

• IT training
  Are you interested in learning about computers?
• A number of free and low-cost IT courses are available through the Huon LINC including eLearn, a self-paced on-line course.
  'Getting Started' computer courses are for beginners that teach the basics of computers in a friendly non threatening environment.

New Norfolk Library

Queenstown Library

  Queenstown Library offers regular instruction in using the State Library online catalogue (TALIS) and Internet training every Monday, Tuesday and Friday within school times. Bookings are essential.

• Staff at Ravenswood Library are always pleased to assist patrons with their use of the State Library online catalogue (TALIS) or the Internet.

Rosny Library

• Library closure
  Due to the building refurbishment all training has been suspended until 2010.
  The Library will close at 12.30pm on Saturday 28 November 2009 and re-open as Rosny LINC at 9.30am on Monday 21 December 2009.

• Get Started with Computers
  TALIS, Internet and email training
  These training sessions will resume in the new year.

• 50+ Help with Family History
  Last Friday of every month, January to November at 1.30pm and 2.30pm. Each sessions runs for 1 hour. A volunteer from The Tasmanian Family History Society will be available to assist patrons with their family history research.

Sorell Library

• TALIS and Internet Training
  Public training sessions in the use of the State Library online catalogue (TALIS) and the Internet are held on a regular basis. Learn how to use Explore, the Internet and Online Resources, Search the Catalogue, Place a Hold or Renew your Loans. Bookings are essential.

State Reference Service

• Help with Family History
  A volunteer from The Tasmanian Family History Society will be available to help with family history research.
  Next sessions will be Thursday 1st October, 15th October and 29th October 2009 from 10.00am to 1.00pm with 45 minute sessions in the izone, 2nd floor, 91 Murray Street, Hobart.

Zeehan Library

• TALIS and Internet Training
  Zeehan Library offers regular instruction on using the State Library online catalogue (TALIS) and Internet training every Wednesday afternoon from 2:00pm to 2:15pm.

• Online Access Centres (OAC) offer online courses throughout the year. These may include Business Admin Cert 2, E-Learn and IT Cert 2.
