The State Reference Library has a significant collection of recent Tasmanian aerial photographs. These photographs are produced by the Information and Land Services Division of DPIWE, primarily for mapping use.
The majority of these large format enlargements (46 X 46 cm) are in full colour, though some older prints are in black and white.
Scales vary according to the location and level of detail required for the particular area covered. The photographs of urban and township areas have a scale of 1: 4 000 (sufficient to be able to identify individual houses) while other areas use a scale of about 1: 15 000.
