Penny Carey-Wells and Diane Perndt
 |
Artist Statement: Tea-hats for book lovers - magical potions from Alice’s story explode into auras. Folios of fanciful folded thoughts flutter; text grows and shrinks; cups and forks distort and teapots tumble and turn. Bindings exposed, pages laced tightly in corseted constraint – let the chair wear the hat leaving you to wander and weave free-headed into Wonderland. |
| Biography: Using handmade paper, digital imagery and graphic design, Dianne Perndt, originally qualified and worked as a graphic designer and printmaker and now practices as a paper/book artist. Carey-Wells’s current work draws on personal history, incorporating digital imagery, collage and sculptural concepts. Both have exhibited nationally/internationally, bringing together handmade paper, unique surface treatments, bookbinding, collage and digital imagery with reference to the Tasmanian landscape and it’s archival heritage. |
