Mahogany, pole on tripod legs, screen lined with brocade.
The adjustable pole screen was designed to protect the face from the heat of the fire. During this period both men and women wore lead-based make-up and extravagant wigs which were set with lard. Exposure to heat would cause a disastrous meltdown!
