Cutlery Box c. 1800
Cutlery boxes were designed to hold sets of dinner knives and forks safely. Knife-blades were inserted downwards, each in its own compartment. Handles, usually of silver, were lavishly decorated and could be displayed to advantage when the cutlery box was open.
