Heinrich Scherer was a Jesuit and a Professor of Mathematics at Munich. The plates of his Atlas Novus were usually printed on beautiful heavy paper, with the impressions crisp and dark. This map explores the natural world of the northern coast of Australia and includes many examples of strange and exotic fauna.
