All Tasmanian residents are invited to become members of the State Library.
Children under 18 must have a responsible adult to sign as guarantor who is responsible for their child’s reading and any debts incurred.
You can register at any public library in Tasmania by producing three personal identification documents at least one of which includes your current address and one includes your date of birth.
Identification can be provided from the following list: Driver's Licence, Medicare Card, Credit Card with signature, Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, Tertiary Student ID Card, Birth Certificate, Passport, Tasmanian Government Personal Information Card, Firearms Licence.
If none of these items shows your current address, you will also need to provide either a bank statement up to 6 months old or a utility account (eg. electricity or phone) with proof of payment.
When registering children this information is required for the guarantor only, not the child.
