This list is designed for both adults and young readers. Our Top 100 was compiled by State Library of Tasmania librarians from a combination of award winners, best sellers, great reads and classic novels from 1901-2000.
Novels that influenced a generation from The hound of the Baskervilles (Sherlock Holmes) to The hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy; from A town like Alice to All quiet on the Western Front, there is something for everyone.
While our list cannot capture everyone's favourite classic, we hope you enjoy reading these books as much as we did compiling the list for you.
