Most of the images digitised by the State Library are free of copyright. It is possible, however, that there are a few exceptions which have either been digitised with the permission of the copyright owner or inadvertently included. These images are protected by the Copyright Act of the Commonwealth of Australia or by international copyright conventions.
The Copyright Act is applicable if a work was created or first published in Australia or if the copyright owner was an Australian resident or a person resident in Australia at the time of creation.
