The State Library of Tasmania’s Heritage Collections develop and grow by the compulsory legal deposit of Tasmanian publications, by purchase of both new and older publications and by donation. Donations of older and more ephemeral material which might have escaped the Library’s notice at its time of publication are especially welcome.
The State Library is eligible to receive donations under the Commonwealth Government’s Cultural Gifts Program (formerly known as the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Program). While the Library will always discuss the terms of donations with potential donors and will endeavour to meet their requirements, it cannot undertake to retain every item donated or to keep donated items together within the Heritage Collections.
