The Devonport Public Library is situated at 21 Oldaker Street, Devonport, Tasmania 7310, Australia. It is part of the State Library of Tasmania, a division of the Department of Education. Devonport (pop.24,417) is the centre for a rich farming hinterland and the gateway for tourists arriving on the Bass Strait Ferry "Spirit of Tasmania". It is a beautiful city with fine beaches and superb mountain country within easy reach. The Library aims to cover the recreational and information interests of clients directly from its own printed, multimedia, audio, and online resources, and from the wider resources of the State Library. We specialise in a friendly, helpful service, and visitors are made very welcome.

The Library is conveniently situated in the centre of Devonport with an off-street carpark and wheelchair access. Meeting Rooms are available for public use and can be booked for a small fee. The Library also offers public exhibition space and enquiries about displays are welcomed. There are public toilets and a disabled toilet.
The Library has excellent lending collections covering fiction and information subjects for adults and young people; music cds , and videos. Recorded Book and Home Library Service are available for eligible clients. There is a good Reference and Local History collection, with services for genealogists, including Pioneers' Indexes for all Australian States on cdrom and/or microfiche, and complete holdings of the main Tasmanian newspapers on microfilm.
The Library has several cdrom work stations, offering access to a wide range of cdroms covering anything from health databases to children's animated stories. Access to the Internet is provided in the library on three PCs. Word Processing facilities are available using MS Word: bookings are advisable.
