Services

Branch libraries are part of the State Library of Tasmania's statewide public library network, and offer lending and limited reference services to all members of the Tasmanian community and to visitors. Members of the State Library of Tasmania can borrow and return library items in any of the city or branch libraries and can also reserve lending items from any library.

Branch libraries offer the following services:

• Borrowing and reservations
• Access to Recorded book and Home Library Service 
• Materials in a variety of formats, including videos and CDs
• Children's services
• TALIS (State Library catalogue)
• Access to information from State Reference Library in Hobart
• Access to information from Archives Office of Tasmania
• Internet access* (bookings recommended)
• Photocopying**

What's on at Smithton Library

Activities

• Rock & Rhyme
  Rock & Rhyme is an interactive session for young babies aged 0-24 months old with their parents or carers. Come along and enjoy rhymes, rhythm and fun with nursery favourites.

• Storytime for Senior Residents
  Thursdays at 2:00pm

  Stories and activities for young children.

• Reading Together
  A weekly program for parents and their preschool children. Come along and hear stories, sing songs and borrow books in the friendly surroundings of the library.
