Resources include lending and general reference collections, Tasmaniana, collections of rare and specialist items, education resource and media collections available to schools, and a wide range of multi-media and electronic resources. The State Library of Tasmania is focused on a one-stop-shop for public access to information and library services. People who are registered patrons can borrow library items in any of the lending service points, and can also reserve any lending item from any service point state-wide.
The State Library of Tasmania acquires materials in all published formats with consideration given to the intended collection and client use. The Tasmaniana Library, through the legal deposit program, collects material in any format that records or reproduces words, sounds or images.
